Conservation Planning
Friends helps conserve property along the river as well as work on conservation plans for properties that will remain undeveloped or will undergo land disturbance due to development plans. In the past several years, Friends has worked with property owners and the county to develop conservation plans and easements for lands affecting the rivers in Chesterfield County. Friends will assist in negotiation with land trusts and co-hold conservation easements for property owners. The Friends of Chesterfield's Riverfront currently co-holds two conservation easements; one on the Brown and Williamson Conservation Area, and one on a property in the Rivers Bend subdivision, both located on the James River east of Interstate 95.
